About the Council
In recent years, Japan’s fruits and vegetables have been appreciated for their extremely high quality, safety, and security, and demand is gradually expanding, particularly in the United States and the remarkable Asian countries where income is rising.
However, the exports of fruits and vegetables are limited to the efforts of producers and distributors, and there is no progress in cooperation between production areas and commodities.
In addition, we are faced with many challenges, including differences in plant quarantine systems and pesticide residue standards in export destinations, differences between export destinations and Japan, and the development of freshness preservation and long-term preservation technologies for exported fruits and vegetables.
In order to promote exports, it is important to resolve these issues and promote exports by disseminating the attractiveness of Japanese fruits and vegetables to other countries and by developing export systems in Japan and overseas, in order to promote the fruits and vegetables industry.
Based on this background, we believe it is necessary to establish a system to promote the export of fruits and vegetables through cooperation with producers, distributors, and other fruits and vegetables stakeholders.
Therefore, we established the Japan Fruit and Vegetable Export Promotion Council with the aim of further enhancing the export promotion of fruits and vegetables.
In the future, we intend to accelerate the export expansion of fruits and vegetables under this council.
The Japan Fruit and Vegetable Export Promotion Council was established on May 28, 2015, with the aim of promoting exports of domestically produced vegetables and fruits by collecting and providing information on projects necessary for promoting exports of domestically produced vegetables and fruits and vegetables and processed products (hereinafter referred to as “domestically produced vegetables and fruits”) and exports of domestically produced vegetables and fruits and vegetables.
